Discovering Camano Island

Adventure is out there! & sometimes, if you are lucky, it is only a few minutes away 🙂

This weekend I made it my mission to start exploring more of the beautiful place I live in, Camano Island, WA. The sun decided to come out and play, so what better day to go out and enjoy my city.

For those of you unfamiliar with Camano Island, it is a rural city that can be reached if you drive through Stanwood and over a small bridge. Camano Island houses Cama Beach State Park and Camano Island State Park. It is very quiet and surrounded by nature; the perfect place to go if you are seeking relaxation or a break from the crazy city life.

Camano Island State Park & Cama Beach State Park

One of my favorite places to go to in Camano Island is the state park and beach. My dogs love walking there and I enjoy the peace and quiet. There are cabins you can rent in both State Parks (Cama Beach & C.I. State Park) and a lovely little cafĂ©, Cama Beach CafĂ©, which is open on weekends from 8-2. If you find yourself hungry and the cafĂ© is closed there is also Kara’s Kitchen which is about 5 minutes away from the parks. Try their burgers and lumpia, they are amazing! Make sure you order over the phone though, because the wait for food can be long.

Cranberry Lake

Across the street from Camano Island State Park is the trail for Cranberry Lake. This trail is about a little more than 2 miles roundtrip. It is a very easy walk in which you are surrounded by nature. The trail ends at a marsh which is eerily beautiful. I was particularly excited to have found this trail because it is a walk I can do alone on weekends, when my husband works and I am trying to get out of the house with the dogs.

Camano Animal Shelter Association (CASA)

If you’re looking for a new fur baby, look no further! CASA is a no kill shelter on Camano Island that has plenty of loving dogs and cats waiting for their furever home. However, if you’re not ready to adopt yet, or can’t for one reason or the other, you can come volunteer or make a donation.
